Libussa Lübbeke is a 24-year-old German eventing rider and sports soldier based in Warendorf. Growing up in a family deeply rooted in breeding and equestrian sport, Libussa developed her passion for horses from an early age. Over the years, she has built a reputation as one of Germany’s rising talents, known for her precision, determination, and strong partnership with her horses.
Her career reached a significant milestone with Caramia 34, a Hanoverian mare bred by her family. Together, they climbed from national competitions to the international stage, competing at Luhmühlen, CHIO Aachen, and the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event CCI5*-L, where they earned a top-10 placing, and secured Team Gold at the 2025 European Championships in Blenheim.
"Bringing on a horse is like writing a book - each chapter builds on the last."
For Libussa, partnership is everything. She takes time to truly get to know each horse with its strengths, quirks, and weaknesses. She isn’t afraid to step back when needed to gain more experience in the lower classes before the horse can move up the levels. She strongly believes that taking the next step at the right time, guided by trust, feel, and long-term development is key when producing horses.

Libussa believes real growth never happens overnight. Her calm, patient approach with people and with horses allows skills and confidence to build steadily. Small, consistent steps create durable success and keep horses happy in their work.

To Libussa, resilience means showing up every day willing to improve. She works on herself as diligently as she does on her horses, using feedback and reflection to get a little better in all three phases. Every setback is a chance to learn and improve.

Winning rounds start at home. From gymnastic lines to canter quality to course walks, Libussa focuses on the details that create reliability under pressure. Preparation brings clarity and clarity builds confidence.

For Libussa, eventing has always been connected to her family’s long-standing passion for breeding and developing talented sport horses. Growing up in Wingst with her two brothers, Fritz Ludwig and Ferdinand, she spent her childhood surrounded by horses. Today, her brothers may no longer compete themselves, but they remain an important part of her journey, often coming along to support Libussa at competitions.

Her parents, Martin and Annelie Lübbeke, have been dedicated breeders for many years, carefully focusing on selecting strong bloodlines and producing horses with the qualities needed to succeed at the highest levels of the sport. With only one or two foals per year, they deliberately keep their breeding on a small, family-oriented scale. Their passion lies especially with the Hanoverian breed.
One promising talent from their breeding program is Benedetta, who competed at Blenheim and is considered one of Libussa’s rising stars for the future.
Their most successful homebred is Caramia 34, a Hanoverian mare born and raised on the family farm. Starting her career under Libussa’s brother Fritz Ludwig before Libussa took over the ride, Caramia has grown into an international five-star horse, competing at Luhmühlen, CHIO Aachen, Blenheim, and finishing 10th at the Defender Kentucky CCI5*-L.

The Lübbeke family’s involvement at every stage - from breeding and raising to training and competing - gives Libussa a unique foundation as an athlete. It allows her to truly understand her horses from the very beginning and develop them carefully into confident, successful partners at the highest level of the sport.
